To those familiar with the japanese garage rock scene of the 90s you may have heard about the bands Teengenerate, Guitar Wolf, The Registrators; Or as i like to call them the Holy Trinity of Jpn. Garage Punk. Now unless you're tapped in you might be unfamiliar with American Soul Spiders, American Soul Spiders were Fifi and Fink's First band before they started Teengenerate in 1993. You may think Teengenerate were responsible for the explosion of japanese garage rock in the 90s and you would be correct to an extent, However American Soul Spiders set the foundations(cultivating an audience) that Teengenerate would build off of plus inspiring many other groups to form Such as the 5.6.7.8's(for more info watch the Teengenerate Documentary Get Action). American Soul Spiders discography is stuck on vinyl having never been issued on CD.The Singles are not prohibitively expensive albeit rare, the same can be said for their first and only album 'Maximum Overdrive'. Interestingly enough Jeff Dahl of Angry Samoans fame collaborated with A.S.S (it's very good). The AUS garage rockers Bored also covered A.S.S's "Teenage Jesus"

An Interesting aspect of many of those Japanese Garage Punk bands is that they released their music on American Garage Labels such as Sympathy for the Record Industry, Crypt, In the Red, Rip-Off. Teengenerate even played with the devil dogs on their NA tour. Around this time the U.S garage punk scene was also flourishing. So the Japanese and American bands were crossing borders. Here's a list of American Soul Spiders Discography
